The average rent in the UK is £4,000, according to a recent report from the UK’s Office for National Statistics.
The report also revealed that the average price of a house in the country increased by £3,000 in the year to March 2018.
The country’s median price was £220,000 for a house of five bedrooms, while the average property price was $1.1 million.
This is the fourth straight year that the UK has had the lowest median price in the world, the OECD reported in 2017.
The median house rent in London is currently £2,500 a month, according the National Housing Federation, while in the US it is $3,300 a month.
The UK’s median house price has also been trending downwards since the Brexit vote in June.
In the past few months, rents have risen around 5 per cent, according a recent survey by property agency Apartment Ladder.
The US has had a similar trend.
The average price for a two-bedroom house in San Francisco is now $1,500, according Apartment Leader, while that is $1 a month more than the median in London.
