Rents for new homes in Italy rose by 4.9% in June compared with May, as the summer months bring more heat, cold and rain.
The increase of 4.6% is the biggest since June 2011.
The latest figures also show that new homes are still under-building.
A total of 1.6 million houses were built last year, compared with 1.8 million in June.
The number of new homes under construction in Italy is forecast to fall to 1.5 million in 2020, from 1.7 million in 2021, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Analysis (INSA).
Italy’s unemployment rate stands at 13.7%, which is a record high in the EU.
